Cassie Ott graduated from NC State’s College of Design in 2013 and is currently a full time artist and instructor living and working in Raleigh, NC. Her vibrant acrylic paintings celebrate popular subjects with bright colors and bold brushstrokes. In addition to completing her personal work, Ott finds inspiration in creating portraits and other personal commissions for members of the community.
Since completing my education, I have taken on the challenge of being a full time artist. The majority of my paintings are commissions and I enjoy the experience of making each memory come to life and making personal connections with my patrons. Through creating these commissions I found my aesthetic to be loud, fun, and energetic, directly reflecting my own personality. My process is swift and impulsive which allows me to express these traits even further. I concentrate on subject matter that celebrates life and friendships, while also making sarcastic remarks on current trends and fads. When creating still lifes, I strive to communicate the spirit and energy of the flowers and rethink the style that is often considered static and unimaginative. The heightened saturation expresses the way I view the world, packed with color and fun.
